GOLF COURSE

The month of April has passed and we are now beginning our spring and early summer maintenance program. We have been topdressing and fertilizing all greens surfaces and they are responding well to the more seasonal weather in May. April ended up being much damper and cooler than normal. Rainfall was near normal experienced during springtime weather patterns.

The weather has been excellent for maintenance and projects being done around the course. Bunker renovations have been the bulk of maintenance when weather permitted between tournaments. These include many drainage and cultural projects being done on the course. Broken catch basins and drains are being repaired or replaced. All cart paths and curbing around the course will be edged for a sharper look while repairing areas adjacent to paths that have settled during drought.

Our first greens aerification is scheduled for May 29th. We appreciate your patience during the most important cultural practice of the season. The greens will be aerified with a coring aerifier, which means we will be pulling cores from each green. Following aerification, our greens will be treated with fertilizer and topdressed with sand accordingly. Within two weeks, our greens should be in tournament shape.

We hope to see all of you out on the course and around the Clubhouse this season. As always, thank you for repairing your ball marks on greens and fixing your divots on tees and fairways.

If anyone has any questions about course conditions or comments about what you see around the club, please don’t hesitate to contact my mobile phone at 504.628.2227 anytime. Thank you again and we hope to see you soon.
